To perform the recovery process, we will follow the following steps:
1. Have a HASHWallet
The user must have a HASWallet in its factory configuration or purchase a new HASHWallet.
2. Recovery elements
Depending on the option the user has chosen in the HASHWallet onboarding, the user will have different custody of both the Recovery Seed and the Recovery Key.
To be able to perform the recovery process, the user will have to have access to both elements at this moment, otherwise, it is impossible to perform the recovery of the HASHWallet.
If you have more than one HASHWallet and you have also decided not to use the same Recovery Seed for both HASHWallets, you should be careful and use the Recovery Seed and Recovery Key associated with the wallet you want to recover.
If you mix the recovery items, the recovery process will be performed, but the result will be a set of keys that had nothing to do with the HASHWallet you wanted to recover and therefore you will not be able to access your funds.
3. HASHWallet Manager
Launches the HASHWallet Manager application either in the mobile or desktop environment.
Once the application is started, you must follow the steps indicated for the recovery process.
The first thing we will import is the Recovery Seed stored on the Recovery Card. Remember that you must use the Recovery Card associated with the HASHWallet you want to recover.
The second step will be to import the Recovery Key. In this case, the process will depend on where you have stored this recovery item.
- eSignus Vault:
The first step is to log in to your Vault account. In case you have more than one HASHWallet, you will select the HASHWallet you want to recover, that will be identified by the name you assigned to your HASHWallet in the onboarding process. Otherwise, the only Recovery Key you have in the Vault will be the one used.
- Recovery Card:
If you have stored both items on the same Recovery Card, the Recovery Key will be imported once the Recovery Seed import process has been completed.
- Crypto Ninja:
If you decided to store the Recovery Key yourself, you must import the file into the application in order to send it to the card and complete the recovery process.
4. Generation of the Master Seed
Once both recovery elements have been imported, the process for the regeneration of the Master Seed will start. When the process is finished, the HASHWallet will remove both the Recovery Seed and the Recovery Key from the inside of the device and the device will be ready for use.
After this process of few minutes, you will be able to see again on your computer or in your mobile the accounts that you had, your funds and it will be ready to operate and to make any operation.
